We are about to live through history. Do you have a plan?
Broad trends that have been in motion for years — some for decades, others for centuries — are changing within our lifetimes. Many will affect us financially, and most will impact daily life. Significant themes such as as depopulation and deglobalization. Yet, how do the old rules of financial planning apply when the times change? It raises major questions:
Are the fundamentals changing (capitalism, and the nature of work itself in an age of AI)?
Will I/we be okay? Will this change how retirement works?
My kids: what will their world look like? Does college matter anymore?
These trends will affect our finances, our futures, and our families. As one age comes to a close and another begins, we are caught in the middle.

About Me:
This substack is an outgrowth of the weird financial patterns I spotted in my financial practice and how it was (or about) to affect my clients. I couldn’t find real world explanations of these themes, or their implications, so I had to dig into the details for my clients’ sake. You too deserve to understand how these will affect human matters — because the human matters.
I spent a nearly a decade in a political wilderness: working as a political operative, campaign manager, and legislative assistant on Capitol Hill. And then, my party kinda went crazy. So I decided to take a break for one cycle and then…I just couldn’t do it any longer.
While the head financial planner at my firm, I couldn’t do it without my CFK9 (you should her bio, she’s really proud of it). I’m married to the best Speech-Language Pathologist in all the land (definitely check out her work LINK). Above all, I hold deeply what Thomas Merton said best: “Everything that is, is holy.”
