The human matters, as in the matters of being human part. I’ve spent the last decade or so working in finance and how we deal with money is one of the most pressing issues we face as humans.

From all the political shenanigans (tariffs, Venezuela stuff), to the failing promises of AI, it looks like at some point we will have a recession. I initially thought we’d have one last year, but history suggests the affects of tariffs can take years before drags down an economy.

Even if tariffs problems take longer materialize, at some point as the US pulls away from the world economy, we will likely still experience a downturn that will hit our investment and retirement accounts. And I know how scary that can be and the fear that it generates.

If you need some reassurance, come on over, grab some tea, and let’s have a chat. I’ve got a cozy blanket you can use, if Lollie isn’t using it of course:

I think if you understood a few things, it might help you emotionally get though a market crash:

  • Cycles: The cycles of humanity are happening now, and the transitions can be rough. But they aren’t forever. We’ve gotten through them before and we will again

  • Technicals: There are a few technical ideas that might help you on retirement stuff, approaches, etc

  • Emotions (the human part): How to live through an emotional roller coaster—this likely won’t be the last downturn in your lifetime, and that’s part of the modern human experience—but the fundamentals look good over the long term.

Let’s get to it…
